Dr. Olugbenga Ojo is an associate professor of medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine and the chief medical officer/chief physician executive for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. He received his MD from the College of Medicine University of Lagos Nigeria; his postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology residency at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford Kent, England, and internal medicine residency at Chicago's Cook County Hospital. He received his MBA from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2018. His ethos is health care that is evidence-based, patient- and family-centered, of high quality, high value and highly reliable. In 2005, he received the Inaugural John P. McGovern Award from the UTMB McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine, for modeling the ideals of compassionate, scientifically sound, patient-driven care exemplified by Sir William Osler.
