Dr. Anita Wilson is a correctional medical consultant with the North Carolina Division of Public Health's Communicable Disease Branch. She began her medical career as a community health center physician and continues to follow her passion for serving the underserved as she aids in developing programs and resources for North Carolina's incarcerated populations. Dr. Wilson is a board-certified family physician with 9 years of correctional medicine leadership experience, including the roles of former chief medical officer for North Carolina's prisons and regional medical director for Alabama's prisons. She firmly believes that knowledge is power as it pertains to managing illnesses and disease. Everyone should be afforded the opportunity to understand the medical challenges they face. Her free time is mostly filled with spending time with her son or traveling.
