Dr. Temitope Oyelakin is a Registered Nurse manager at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where she provides operational and clinical leadership over a 26-bed medical-surgical unit and a 40-bed post-acute infirmary unit with 80 FTE. She had the privilege of starting the 40-bed infirmary unit from the ground up. She is currently enrolled in an online correctional nursing certificate program to deepen her understanding of correctional nursing care, enhance her ability to deliver quality care to the incarcerated population, and share this knowledge with other nurses working with the population.
