Dr. Temitope Oyelakin is a nurse manager with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice–University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She provides operational and clinical leadership for a 26-bed medical-surgical unit and a 40-bed post-acute infirmary, overseeing a multidisciplinary team of approximately 80 staff members. Dr. Oyelakin played a key role in developing and launching the infirmary unit and remains committed to advancing high-quality care for incarcerated patients. She is currently pursuing additional education in correctional nursing to strengthen her expertise and support professional development among nurses working in correctional settings. Her interests include nursing leadership, quality improvement, and correctional health care delivery.
