Dr. Arlita Jefferson serves as Assistant Director of Research and Education at the University of Texas Medical Branch’s Center for Correctional Healthcare Research and Education. A correctional nurse since 1996, she leads initiatives focused on advancing correctional nursing, evidence-based practice, and clinical innovation. Dr. Jefferson earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Eastern Kentucky University and has dedicated her career to strengthening workforce development, nursing education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She is actively involved in national professional organizations and is recognized for her leadership in advancing correctional nursing and correctional health care nationwide.
