Sheriff Eric S. Higgins has devoted more than 37 years to public service and law enforcement. After a distinguished career with the Little Rock Police Department, where he rose to Assistant Chief of Police, he was elected in 2019 as the first African American Sheriff of Pulaski County. A graduate of Liberty University, Sheriff Higgins earned a bachelor’s degree in Government and Business and a master’s degree in Executive Leadership and Counseling. He is widely recognized for innovative approaches to rehabilitation, community engagement, and criminal justice reform, including the development of nationally recognized reentry and youth mentoring initiatives.
