Ms. Laura Xan Weir is a retired captain with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. During her 21-year career in corrections, she oversaw medical and mental health contracts for the Clark County Detention Center and North Valley Complex in Las Vegas. Ms. Weir also served as the legal liaison for the Detention Services Division and as legislative liaison for both the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Clark County. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and public communication from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
