Ms. Mary Price is senior counsel at FAMM, formerly Families Against Mandatory Minimums, and earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Since joining the organization in 2000, Ms. Price has advocated for sentencing reform and expanded opportunities for second chances, including compassionate release, before the U.S. Sentencing Commission, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Congress, and state legislatures and agencies. She has written extensively on compassionate release to help stakeholders understand, use, and improve release programs. Her work includes national reports, state-by-state analyses, research memoranda, and practical toolkits to support policy reform. Ms. Price also founded the federal Compassionate Release Clearinghouse. Ms. Price received the Champion of Justice Restoration of Rights Award from the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2019 in recognition of her work on commutation and compassionate release. In 2021, she accepted the Alfred McKenzie Award from the Washington Lawyers' Committee for the Compassionate Release Clearinghouse COVID-19 Project.
