Ms. Sofia Sacerdote is a third-year medical student at Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. She is a dual degree candidate, doing a masters in population medicine. Her thesis is an oral history project documenting the process that led to passing legislation for and opening the country’s first state sanctioned overdose prevention center in Rhode Island. Before medical school, she worked at a clinic for people transitioning out of incarceration, supporting CHWs and building a housing case management program. Currently, she is involved in street medicine and creating harm reduction curriculum for incarcerated youth and youth leaders in the community.
