Mr. Alistair Shanks is program manager for training at the Humane Prison Hospice Project. He joined the organization as a volunteer facilitator, supporting program training in California prisons. Mr. Shanks began this chapter of his career as a hospice volunteer, volunteer trainer, and volunteer manager at Zen Hospice Project. A trained chaplain, Mr. Shanks completed his residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and serves as an on-call chaplain at the university hospital. He previously led meditation sessions at the San Francisco County Jail. His chaplaincy experience, training in Daoism, and Buddhist meditation practice inform his work with the Humane Prison Hospice Project.
