Meka T. Sylvester is the Social Services Supervisor at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC), overseeing the Familiar Faces In Action and Community Transition (F2ACT) Program. F2ACT encompasses discharge planning, serving inmates who have been placed on home incarceration or inmates who are getting released and need substance abuse and mental health treatment get into treatment facilities and programs. Ms. Sylvester has been part of the LMDC Family since January of 2018, previously serving as the Inmate Grievance Counselor and Senior Social Worker/F2ACT Program Coordinator.
Ms. Sylvester has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, graduating with Cum Laude Honors, from Lane College. She is enrolled at Campbellsville University, where she is working on a Master of Science in Justice Studies with a concentration in Public Service Leadership and Social Justice. She has worked as an officer and sergeant at Kentucky State Reformatory and started her career with Louisville Metro Government in 2001 as a Senior Social Worker.
