Dr. Richard Andrews spent many years working at rural community health centers in rural Virginia before moving to Houston, TX in 2008, where he learned to manage uncomplicated chronic Hepatitis B & C in a multilingual/multicultural patient population. He is the former Chief Medical Officer at HOPE Clinic in Houston and was the sole provider of Hepatitis B & C care, including hepatitis B in pregnancy. Under Dr. Andrews’ care and direction, 76 Hepatitis C patients achieved cure (SVR12) on treatment. In 2019, he was awarded the CDC’s Hep B Champion “for outstanding commitment to eliminating Hepatitis B and liver cancer in the United States”. In August 2020, he began treating patients for opioid use disorder.
