113 Registered Dietitians: The Missing Link in Health Care*
Description
Patients often present to medical staff with food-related issues and need nutrition education on their particular diagnosis. Correctional dietitians support the medical team by providing nutrition assessments for food requests, such as food allergies, double portions, and extra protein. They also complement the medical team by serving as intermediaries with food services and by ensuring that medical diets (e.g., gluten free, soy free, diabetes, hypertension, pregnancy) match the diagnosis.
