145 Overview, Treatment, and Risk Assessment for Youth Who Engage in Sexually Abusive Behaviors*
Description
This presentation will review legal definitions of common sexually abusive behaviors; common characteristics of youth who engage in sexually abusive behaviors; comparison of juvenile and adult offenders; exploration of normal vs. deviant adolescent sexual behaviors; and the factors that contribute to a juvenile's risk of engaging in sexually abusive behaviors. The presenters will also discuss juvenile sexual offender risk assessment including three evidence-based risk assessment tools; exploration of treatment issues; the Risk, Need, Responsivity Model; and common treatment goals.
