147 Medical Cost Reduction: A Collaborative Effort in Georgia*
Description
Medical costs are among the highest expenditures in correctional facilities. The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice collaborated with the Augusta University Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services to identify high medical cost areas and implement procedures to reduce these expenditures without compromising quality of care. This presentation describes how the team tracked medical expenses and implemented procedures across 25 secure facilities that reduced costs by 31%.
