Description

The population of older incarcerated adults is growing rapidly. Hospitalizations negatively impact the cognitive function of older adults through various mechanisms, including provoking delirium. There is a dearth of information on the impact of hospitalizations on older incarcerated adults, despite many reasons to suspect they are at increased risk of poor outcomes. This analysis examines rates of delirium and its relationship to readmissions and mortality in this high-risk population.
