101 It Hurts When I Do This: Diagnosing and Managing Overuse Syndromes*
Description

Musculoskeletal pain and injury ailments comprise a large number of visits to medical providers in correctional facilities, especially those housing younger inmates. This presentation will cover the diagnosis and management of several common overuse syndromes, including but not limited to shoulder impingement, epicondylitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, Achilles tendonitis, and plantar fasciitis. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of history taking, avoidance of the aggravating activity, and when to refer.
