Deputy Myron Bennett III has been with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office since April 2019. He has worked a variety of assignments within Detention Services including booking and psychiatric housing. Deputy Bennett is currently a Risk Assessment Deputy assigned to the Therapeutic Inmate Management Unit (TIMU) where he collaborates with stakeholders to provide ethical, professional, and effective mental health services to inmates experiencing mental illness. In addition to his normal duties, Deputy Bennett is a canine handler for K9 Rocky, a three-year-old Labrador retriever. Deputy Bennett utilizes Rocky as an Emotional Support/Therapeutic K9 in order to increase socialization and treatment compliance for inmates suffering from mental illness. He currently manages the psychiatric population at Todd Road Jail in Santa Paula, California as well as the Pre-Trial Detention Facility located in Ventura, California. Deputy Bennett has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, Pre-Med and is currently in a Master's Degree program at Arizona State University where he is studying Public Safety Leadership and Administration.
