Description
In correctional settings, we routinely encounter individuals with challenging personality traits. Often, we become stuck in patterns of interaction that are not helpful to our patients and leave us feeling frustrated. This session will offer a deeper understanding of personality functioning and provide insights into improved working relationships with these challenging individuals.
Educational Objectives
- Review the four basic elements of personality functioning as presented in the DSM-5
- Describe personality as falling along a continuum of pathology
- Explore practical skills to work more effectively with individuals who exhibit challenging personality functioning
