Ms. Jennifer Mewshaw graduated from West Virginia University with her BSN in 2006 and spent several years traveling the country, working primarily with women and children. Shortly after her return to West Virginia University to complete her master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner, Ms. Mewshaw relocated to Houston, Texas with her family. While completing a portion of her clinical hours at Federal Detention Center (FDC) Houston in 2015, she found herself loving the challenge of correctional health care. Upon her graduation in 2016, she became a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service and returned to FDC Houston to serve as a family nurse practitioner. In October 2022, she transitioned to the position of south central regional nurse consultant within the Bureau of Prisons.
