Description

The convergence of substance use disorders with mental and medical co-occurring illnesses presents significant morbidity and mortality risks to people in and formerly in prison settings. This presentation highlights the ways in which a methadone-based program in a county jail increased providers' attention to multiple dimensions of illness - from dental to orthopedic to psychiatric - using the process of methadone intake and induction as well as principles of open-access care.
