P05 Case Studies in Correctional Nursing: Practice, Standards and Leadership
Description

What can nurse managers, program leaders, and nurses do to develop the critical thinking skills necessary to navigate the correctional environment and appropriately care for their patients? In this session, correctional nurse leaders from the NCCHC Nurse Advisory Council will use case studies to demonstrate challenges faced by correctional nurses and potential actions that could mitigate them. Topics addressed include clinical issues, nurse orientation, nurse supervision, collaboration with custody partners, legal issues, ethical dilemmas, and how to develop case studies for nurse training. 3.5 CE credits
