People released from incarceration are 10 times more likely to experience an overdose than the general public. Continuing medication-assisted treatment (MAT) after release is a crucial overdose prevention strategy. A Pennsylvania pilot program ensured MAT continuity by conducting prerelease intakes to transition care to postrelease providers, aiming to eliminate treatment barriers and reduce overdose risks.
