Description

Recent advancements in treating overweight and obesity are reshaping health care. This session will review nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic weight loss interventions, preparing correctional facilities to manage patients undergoing treatment as community adoption increases.

Educational Objectives
  • Review the pathophysiology, screening, and diagnostic criteria for overweight and obesity
  • Discuss the role of nonpharmacologic interventions in prevention and treatment of overweight and obesity
  • Identify the various pharmacologic treatment options, considerations for selection, plateau management, and options beyond pharmacotherapy

Level: Intermediate
