Antibiotic overuse and misuse threaten their effectiveness. This training will review ADA clinical guidelines on antibiotic prescribing, including best practices for extractions, oral surgery, implant placement, and periodontal therapy. The session will also cover antibiotic stewardship strategies to optimize use.

• Appraise the risks and benefits of antibiotic use including antibiotic resistance and C. diff infection
• Review the ADA clinical practice guidelines for antibiotic prophylaxis
• Explain the current recommendations for antibiotic use in odontogenic infections
