Description

The incidence of colorectal cancer has decreased by about 1% due to widespread use of colonoscopy. At the same time, the number of colorectal cancers in patients under the age of 50 is increasing. This increase in early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC) is more pronounced in certain ethnic groups such as Hispanics and African Americans. The speaker will discuss potential reasons for this alarming increase, the etiology of colon cancer, risk factors, colorectal screening methods and age to initiate them, and optimal screening methods for incarcerated patients.
