This session explores the importance of proactive end-of-life planning in correctional settings, guided by the NCCHC position statement on Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment. Attendees will review trends in the aging incarcerated population, examine the role of end-of-life care planning, and discuss cultural sensitivity, family involvement, and patient autonomy. The session also addresses legal considerations, challenges with advance directives, and practical strategies for developing compliant institutional policies.
