127 Registered Dietitians: The Missing Link in Correctional Health Care*
Description
Patients often present to medical staff with food-related issues and need nutrition education. Learn how correctional dietitians support the health care team by providing nutrition assessments for food requests, such as food allergies, double portions, and extra protein. They also serve as intermediaries with food services and ensure that medical diets (e.g., gluten free, soy free, diabetes, hypertension, pregnancy) match diagnoses. The session will include tips on educating patients on their dietary needs.
