This presentation explores the impact of opioid and amphetamine use on oral health, including tooth decay, infections, and tooth loss, with additional consideration of buprenorphine-based treatments for OUD. Factors contributing to substance use disorder, such as genetics, stress, and environmental influences, are discussed, along with the high prevalence of SUD in correctional populations. Strategies for mitigating oral health complications and improving oral health care for incarcerated individuals are also examined.
