Research exploring the differences between genders in motivations for placement and removal of tattoos. This study identifies intimate partner violence and human trafficking as significant factors influencing both the placement of tattoos and the motivations for their removal among women with histories of gang involvement or incarceration, areas that have been insufficiently examined.
