Mr. Joe McQueen, M. Ed, is a father, husband, and Navy veteran. He is the director of alternative education for Illinois’ Regional Office of Education #33 and has over 20 years’ experience in the field of mental health. Mr. McQueen was a teacher holding the learning behavior specialist 1 credential, a special education coordinator, and a residential treatment specialist. He has been working as a dynamic trainer and speaker for the past five years, presenting at national conferences and working with various schools in west-central Illinois. Mr. McQueen is author of the book Calming Young Minds: Mental Health, De-Escalation, Trauma, and Restorative Practices in Teens.
