Ms. Renee Jones is a recovering addict and survivor of sex trafficking, and after a life of searching for love in the wrong places, began her journey toward recovery on February 14, 2000, when she found the love she was seeking - love for herself. From her native Ohio, Ms. Jones carried her message of personal growth and hope to Alabama and then to Florida where she currently resides. She earned her Bachelor's in Human Services with a concentration in Child and Family Services and an MA in Mental Health Counseling. She is a certified mental health professional in Florida and has attained membership in the Speaker's Bureau of the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, the National Alcoholism and Addiction Institute; the US Institute Against Human Trafficking; and the Global Association of Human Trafficking Scholars.
Fortified by her education and robust personal experience, Ms. Jones is a leader within her communities: she is a former member of the Community Health Activation Team and Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board both of Cleveland, Ohio; a current Chair of the Pasco County Commission on Human Trafficking; and a member of the Mental Health Board in her home county of Hernando. She founded the Reconnection to Life Inc. Women's Center in Birmingham, Alabama, where she partnered with the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles and Mental Health Association of Alabama, to provide this transitional housing program to women returning to their communities after incarceration.
She has also founded I Speak Hope where she presently serves as the CEO and operates her company, Community Counseling LLC, providing counseling services to the citizens of Florida. Her work in the area of mental health has garnered recognition in Alabama where she was recipient of the Mental Health Association of Central Alabama Award and the Birmingham Resolution Award. Ms. Jones has developed crisis intervention training for law enforcement agencies and has spoken on the areas of mental health, drug addiction, domestic violence, and human trafficking at such events as: Counseling and Treating People of Colour; An International Perspective; Krimes Against Kids; 1st Speak Up On Domestic Violence; International Human Trafficking & Social Justice Conference; and the Circuit 5 Human Trafficking Symposium. She's hosted the community talk show: Sisters Talk on radio and published her first book in 2011 - meditation on her upbringing and abuse she endured entitled Mama Ain't Teach Me That? Throughout her journey toward recovery and bolstered with her message, Ms. Jones has brought hope and spiritual nourishment to many.
