Ms. Katie Cummings is a licensed mental health clinician employed by Lifespan as the lead full-time behavioral health clinician at the Rhode Island Training School Youth Development Center (RITS-YDC), Rhode Island’s only juvenile correctional facility. Ms. Cummings conducts initial clinical assessments with youth who have been adjudicated, as well as providing individual and group therapy for youth at the RITS who are either detained or adjudicated. She has been working with youth in the juvenile justice system for six years and has considerable experience working with the adolescent population, particularly adolescents with extensive trauma histories as well as substance use disorders and disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders.Ms. Cummings also provides supervision to masters-level clinicians. She earned her MA in forensic mental health counseling from Roger Williams University and her BA in psychology from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
