Mr. Paul Alt has led teams in architecture, urban design, and master planning on a variety of institutional and public projects. Since the founding of AA + RA, the studio has focused on healing environments for therapeutic, educational, and community-building programming for active military, veterans, veteran families, and urban populations affected by violence. He collaborates with multidisciplinary teams on developing healing environments for healing programming on trauma, loss, and chronic disease. Mr. Alt’s projects ranged from developing healing environment design guidelines for the Department of Veterans Affairs and a community-based veteran center to a virtual healing environment platform called SacroSpace. Mr. Alt was a member of a think tank at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center called the Epidaurus Project focusing on healing environments and healing programming for post-traumatic stress disorder, MI, traumatic brain injury, and MD. He is on the design team for the Global War on Terrorism Memorial on the National Mall in Washington D.C. and completed a feasibility study for a veteran integrative healing center campus for Shevchencove, Ukraine.
