Mr. Michael Long has been surveying with NCCHC since 2024 and is currently a Lead Surveyor. Prior to joining NCCHC he was a Commissioned Officer with the US Public Health Service (PHS) for 30 years retiring at the rank of Captain. For his entire career with the PHS he was detailed to the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Within the BOP he served as a pharmacist and administrator in minimum, low, medium, and maximum security facilities as well as BOP Medical Centers, regional, and the BOP central office. Upon his retirement, he was the Director of Pharmacy for the BOP overseeing 91 pharmacies across the US and Puerto Rico. He has extensive experience in several areas including but not limited to program development, Opioid Treatment Programs, Antimicrobial Stewardship, policy development, and data management.
