Dr. Ella Heitzler is an Associate Professor in Georgetown University’s Berkley School of Nursing, where she teaches in the WHNP, DNP, and PhD programs. She advances women’s and gender-related health through research, quality improvement initiatives, scholarly writing, and mentoring. Dr. Heitzler has served as Chair of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH) Research and Quality Improvement Committee and co-led the inaugural NPWH WHNP Outcomes Research Grants Program. Her research examines screening practices for sexual violence among cisgender and transgender patients. She has published widely, presented nationally, promotes nurse practitioner advocacy, and received the 2025 NPWH Inspiration in Education Award.
