Ms. Maya Berns is a Master of Social Work candidate at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She is a school social work graduate intern at a middle school, providing social-emotional support, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care. Previously, she interned with the Office of the Guardian ad Litem in Colorado Springs, supporting youth involved in delinquency and dependency proceedings. She maintained a caseload at Zebulon Pike Youth Services Center and contributed to research evaluating court-ordered therapy for justice-involved youth. Her professional interests focus on social justice and trauma-informed, rehabilitative approaches to care.
