This session will explore the concept of racial trauma and identify culturally specific ways in which it presents itself among African Americans. The presenter will highlight Critical Race Theory, which addresses evidence-based practices for treating racial trauma among incarcerated individuals through storytelling and challenging dominant trauma narratives. Participants can expect an interactive experience coupled with an authentic, safe place to discuss racial trauma.
