327 Improving Suicide Prevention Outcomes
Description
After the Cuyahoga County Jail experienced an increase in deaths by suicide and suicide attempts in 2018 and early 2019, MetroHealth initiated a series of changes that decreased the number of suicide attends by 88% in 2020. This presentation will explore what was done, including implementation of a comprehensive suicide prevention policy, increased access to mental/behavioral health care, increased variety of mental health services, early identification of at-risk individuals, enhanced education and training, suicide screening tools, critical incident debriefings, and more.
