Name
305 A Guide to Involuntary Medication Orders
Description

Involuntary Medication Orders are an invaluable tool in helping patients suffering from serious mental illness. Despite evidence showing their benefit in reducing serious mental illness, agitation, safety cell placements, and assaults, IMOs remain elusive due to apprehension from both the care team side and the custody side. This presentation aims to reduce the stigma associated with IMOs, provide evidence to show the benefit, discuss real-world results, and provide clarity to the complex and clouded legal environment associated with involuntary medications.
