330 Exploring Personality Disorders: A Comprehensive Overview
Description

Two of the most common diagnoses in the incarcerated population are antisocial personality disorder and borderline personality disorder. A growing body of evidence indicates there are underlying neurobiologic factors at play in personality disorder, and trauma-related disorders and substance use disorders may play a role in many symptoms. Attendees will explore how concepts regarding personality disorders are changing and how psychiatric and mental health providers can navigate those changes.

  • Identify at least two studies that support the neurobiologic underpinnings of personality disorders
  • Express the challenges posed by an evolving conceptualization of personality disorder in correctional settings
