Systemic MAT Planning: Goals, Barriers, Implementation, and Sustainability
Description
The prevalence of opioid use in correctional facilities presents multifaceted challenges, including limited access to addiction treatment, an elevated risk of overdose, increased institutional violence, and the complex intersection of public health and criminal justice. Increasing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) programs in jails and prisons can reduce recidivism rates among incarcerated individuals with substance use disorders by providing comprehensive addiction care. This approach improves post-release reintegration and lowers societal costs associated with repeated incarcerations. Join us for a comprehensive look at MAT planning.
