Ms. Laura Musselman serves as director of development and communications for the Humane Prison Hospice Project. She transitioned from her career as a college philosophy instructor to end-of-life care following the deaths of her parents. She trained with the International End-of-Life Doula Association and worked with a hospice as a patient care, home hospice, and vigil volunteer, soon training other vigil volunteers. This led to her work with Comfort Care volunteers at the Central California Women’s Facility. Ms. Musselman is also a trauma-support specialist and writer. Her work explores the intersections of privilege, community care, and access to a “good death.”
