Ms. Laurie Mombay is a therapist and leader in correctional mental health. She currently serves as the supervisory therapist for mental health services at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, where she oversees service delivery for a population of just under 1,000 incarcerated individuals, many of whom have mental illness and substance use disorders. She has overseen the development of programs, including the implementation of dialectical behavior therapy for incarcerated individuals, and has led the department’s critical incident stress management team, providing support to staff for more than 10 years. Most recently, she developed crisis intervention training for correctional staff to equip them with skills to effectively respond to an increasingly acute mental health population in the jail.
