Dr. Frances C. Hodgkins is an assistant professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing with more than 30 years of clinical and administrative nursing experience. She holds dual board certifications in psychiatric-mental health nursing and addictions nursing and is credentialed as a certified academic nurse educator and nurse executive. She is a University of Texas TEAMS fellow and a grant-funded investigator studying novel psychoactive substance toxidromes. Dr. Hodgkins specializes in translating complex, high-risk clinical challenges into competency-based educational frameworks. Her current work focuses on the SENTINEL framework, a mnemonic-based decision-support tool designed to improve detection of novel psychoactive substance overdose in settings where emerging substances often evade standard drug screening.
