The Rhode Island DOC expanded HCV treatment eligibility, allowing more patients to access care. By including patients who were awaiting trial and by allowing patients to be released with their medication, the treatment pool grew by 400% in fiscal year 2022. Patients demonstrated commendable adherence to HCV treatment. Of the 24 patients who were released with medication, 13 were cured, a success rate of over 50%.
