This study assessed the accuracy of using ICD codes to identify justice-involved individuals with chronic pain through medical chart review, offering recommendations to improve the diagnostic process. The lack of data on chronic pain prevalence in this population may hinder evidence-based treatment, including non-pharmacologic approaches. The study emphasizes the need for research to address unmet CP diagnosis and management needs in this unique population.
