Dementia is spiking in correctional institutions as a result of the rapid growth of the aging incarcerated population. This roundtable discusses how therapeutic recreation/activity therapy enhances physical and cognitive functioning through daily use of structured interventions while decreasing boredom, agitation, and hopelessness.
