419 In-Custody Deaths: Managing the Aftermath*
Description

In-custody deaths are an uncomfortable reality of working in a carceral setting. The internal management of the aftermath of an in-custody death presents challenges for jail and mental health leadership. This presentation will review research about the management of in-custody deaths in correctional settings and will address how such deaths are addressed at Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas by discussing specific interventions used by custody and mental health staff.
