With 18 years of experience, Captain Jonathan Clark leads the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s South Tower Bureau where he has 200 corrections officers, 20 sergeants, and 5 lieutenants under his direction. His bureau houses over 1000 inmates of varying custody levels including maximum custody and restrictive housing. He oversees the operations of the Detention Services Division’s medical contract, one of the largest contracts within Clark County.
Previously, Capt. Clark was the bureau commander of the Civil/Constables Bureau. He has extensive experience in corrections having worked housing and booking as an officer, sergeant, and lieutenant. He has considerable knowledge of the Alternatives to Incarceration programs having been the lieutenant of the section as well as being assigned as a House Arrest officer.
Capt. Clark has been highly involved in training both as a member of the Corrections Field Training and Evaluation Program (CFTEP) and as a Training and Counseling (TAC) officer. In 2012 Clark received the Unit Exemplary Service Award assisting the LVMPD Office of Internal Oversight with major changes to the department’s use of force policy with recommendations from the DOJ, ACLU, and NAACP.
Capt. Clark received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a Mechanical Specialty from the Colorado School of Mines in 2004.
